Round Ruffles Dishcloth



Created Judith Prindle 5/02/2005
worsted weight cotton yarn..less than 1 skein
size I hook

Things to Know;
All stitches will be worked between the stitches of the previous roundwith
the exception of the trim. You will not turn your work.
Guage; not important..my cloth is 6 & 1/2 inches, the 2 trim rounds
are 1 inch. (6& 1/2 inches includes my trim)
If you want your cloth bigger just increase the number of stitches between
increases by 1 for each additional round.

Round 1: Chain 4, 11 double crochet in 4th chain from hook.Join with a slip stitch between beginning chain & first double crochet.

Round 2: Chain 3, double crochet between same stitches asbeginning chain3, * (double crochet between next 2 stitches) 4 times,(2 double crochet between next 2 stitches) twice.Repeat from * to end.Join with slip stitch between beginning chain of this round andfirst double crochet of this round.(24 stitches counting chain3)

Round 3: Chain 3, double crochet between same stitches asbeginning chain3,* (2 double crochet between next 2 stitches, 1 double crochet between next 2 stitches)twice, Repeat from * to end..Join with slip stitch between beginning chain of this round andfirst double crochet of this round.(32 stitches counting chain 3)

Round 4: Chain 3, double crochet between same stitches as beginning chain 3,* (1 double crochet between next 2 stitches,3 times,2 double crochet between next 2 stitches)Repeat from * to end.Join with slip stitch between beginning chain of this round andfirst double crochet of this round.(40 stitches counting chain 3)

Round 5 : Chain 3, double crochet between same stitches as beginning chain3,* (1 double crochet between next 2 stitches,4 times,2 double crochet between next 2 stitches)Repeat from * to end.Join with slip stitch between beginning chain of this round andfirst double crochet of this round.(48 stitches counting chain 3)

Trim Round 1; Chain 2, 1 half double crochet between same two stitchesas beginning chain 2,* 2 half double crochet between next 2 stitches,Repeat from * to end.Join with slip stitch in top of beginning chain 2.

Trim Round 2: Chain1, single crochet in same stitch,*Repeat from * to end.Slip stitch in first single crochet, hide ends and you are done!

I just did one of these. Will you please look at round 2. The way the pattern is written I couldn't get the right number of stitches. I think it should be 2 DC between next 2 sts around to give you the 24 and on round 3, after you do your ch 3 and the DC in the same place.....the next directions should be reversed. The way it reads you start with 2 Dc between the next 2 sts and then do your (1 DC between the next 2 sts)twice and it should be the other way around.

I liked the way it tuned out once I made those changes.
