worsted weight cotton yarn..less than 1 skein
size I hook

Things to Know;
All stitches will be worked between the stitches of the previous roundwith
the exception of the trim. You will not turn your work.
Guage; not important..my cloth is 6 & 1/2 inches, the 2 trim rounds
are 1 inch. (6& 1/2 inches includes my trim)
If you want your cloth bigger just increase the number of stitches between
increases by 1 for each additional round.

Round 1: Chain 4, 11 double crochet in 4th chain from hook.Join with a slip stitch between beginning chain & first double crochet.

Round 2: Chain 3, double crochet between same stitches asbeginning chain3, * (double crochet between next 2 stitches) 4 times,(2 double crochet between next 2 stitches) twice.Repeat from * to end.Join with slip stitch between beginning chain of this round andfirst double crochet of this round.(24 stitches counting chain3)

Round 3: Chain 3, double crochet between same stitches asbeginning chain3,* (2 double crochet between next 2 stitches, 1 double crochet between next 2 stitches)twice, Repeat from * to end..Join with slip stitch between beginning chain of this round andfirst double crochet of this round.(32 stitches counting chain 3)

Round 4: Chain 3, double crochet between same stitches as beginning chain 3,* (1 double crochet between next 2 stitches,3 times,2 double crochet between next 2 stitches)Repeat from * to end.Join with slip stitch between beginning chain of this round andfirst double crochet of this round.(40 stitches counting chain 3)

Round 5 : Chain 3, double crochet between same stitches as beginning chain3,* (1 double crochet between next 2 stitches,4 times,2 double crochet between next 2 stitches)Repeat from * to end.Join with slip stitch between beginning chain of this round andfirst double crochet of this round.(48 stitches counting chain 3)

Trim Round 1; Chain 2, 1 half double crochet between same two stitchesas beginning chain 2,* 2 half double crochet between next 2 stitches,Repeat from * to end.Join with slip stitch in top of beginning chain 2.

Trim Round 2: Chain1, single crochet in same stitch,*Repeat from * to end.Slip stitch in first single crochet, hide ends and you are done!

Flower for Spring Dishcloth

Worsted Cotton , 3 colors.

With out joining; (I mark the beginning of the round with contrasting yarn.)

Center of flower;

Rnd 1; ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)

Rnd 2; 2 sc in each st around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3; *1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * around. (18 sc)

In front loops;

Rnd 4; *sl st in next st, ch 1, sl st in same st, repeat from * around, join and end off.

I hide my end as I work, you may do as you wish.

With out joining rnds work the flower as follows;

Join flower color of your choice in any free back loop of previous rnd.

Rnd 1; 1 sc in same st as join , *sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around.(24 sc)

Rnd 2; *sc in next 3 st, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around.(30 sc)

Rnd 3; *sc in next 4 st, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around.(36 sc)

Rnd 4; *sc in next 5 st, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around.(42 sc)

Rnd 5; *sc in next 6 st, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around.(48 sc)

Petals of Flower;

Working in the front loops this rnd...

Rnd 1; *sc, (hdbl, dbl, hdbl), in next st. Repeat from * around. Join in first sc.

Join another color in back loop of petal round;

With out joining........

Rnd 1; *sc in 7 st , 2 st in next st around.

Rnd 2; *sc in 8 st, 2 sc in next st around.

Rnd 3; *sc in 9 st, 2 sc in next st around.

Rnd 4; *sc in 10 st, 2 sc in next st around.

If you want a bigger cloth keep increasing in this manner until the size you want is reached.

You will have a st count divisable by 6.

This "leaves" round adds another inch..........

Crochet Log Cabin Dishcloth

My cloth is about 8 inches square.

You need:

a size H crochet hook
Any color combination of worsted cotton that you like.
You could use all one color too. The repetition of colors is really
up to you. Don't get wound up in adding colors the "traditional"
way for a log cabin pattern if you don't want to!

Section One

With H hook and red yarn;

Chain 6.

Row 1: Single crochet in second chain from hook and next 4 chains. (5 single crochet)

Chain 1 and turn.

Rows 2-5: Single crochet in each stitch. ( 5 single crochet & 5 rows)

Section Two

Row 1: Chain 1 and turn your work (clockwise) so you can crochet in the ends of the rows.

Do 5 single crochet (total) in the ends of rows 1-5.

Rows: 2-5: Single crochet in each of the 5 single crochet just made in the ends of the rows 1-5 of section one.

Section Three

Change yarn color in last stitch made, turn clockwise again without tuning your work over. You will always have the front side of your cloth facing you when you start a new section,

Row 1: 10 stitches single crochet across the ends of the rows on

side of your cloth, chain 1 and turn.

Rows 2 - 5: Single crochet in each stitch across. (10 stitches)

Section Four

Change yarn color in last stitch made, turn clockwise again without turning your work over. You will always have the front side of your cloth facing you when you start a new section,

Row 1: 10 single crochet across the ends of the rows on side of your cloth,

chain 1 and turn.

Rows 2 - 5: Single crochet in each stitch across. (10 stitches)

Section Five

Change yarn color in last stitch made, turn clockwise again without turning your work over.

Row 1: 15 single crochet across the ends of the rows on

the side of your cloth, chain 1 and turn.

Rows 2 - 5: 15 Single crochet in each stitch across. (15 stitches)

Section Six

Change yarn color in last stitch made, turn clockwise again without turning your work over.

Section Eleven

Change yarn color in last stitch made, turn clockwise again without turning your work over.

Row 1: 30 single crochet across the ends of the rows on

the side of your cloth, chain 1 and turn.

Rows 2 - 5: 20 Single crochet in each stitch across. (30 stitches)

I stopped building here. I then did one row of single crochet

around the entire outside of the cloth, placing 3 single crochet

in each corner. You could go on as long as you want.

Triple Quick Crocheted Dishcloth

Materials:

size I crochet hook, worsted weight cotton yarn
Gauge is not important but my dishcloth is 7&1/2 x 7&1/2.
If you want a bigger cloth just make your beginning chain longer, keeping in mind that you want an odd number of stitches.

Chain 26
Row 1: single crochet in 2nd chainfrom hook and each chain across. (25 stitches)

Row 2: turn, chain 4, triple crochet in each single crochet to end .

Row 3: turn, chain 4, front post triple crochet around 1st stitch,*back post triple crochet around next stitch previous row,front post triple crochet around next stitch of previous row,repeat from * to beginning chain 4 of previous row, triple crochet intop of chain 4.

Row 4: turn, chain 4, back post triple crochet around 1st stitch of previous row,* front post triple crochet around next stitch of previous row,back post triple crochet around next stitch previous row.repeat from * to beginning chain 4 of previous row, triple crochet intop of chain 4.Repeat Rows 3 & 4 until you have a total of 10 triple crochet rows or your dishcloth is the length you want it.

Last Row: single crochet in each stitch across.....that's it!

Thing to know.....
Gauge is not applicable, you can make more or fewer, rounds before the trim if you want
your cloth bigger or smaller. than mine.
You will join your rounds with a slip stitch between
the beginning chain 3 and the first double crochet.
All you double crochet stitches will be worked between
the stitches of the previous row through out instead
of in the top like you usually would.

chain 4 and join in ring with a sl st.

Round 1; ch 3, 2 dbl crochet, * ch 3 , 3 dbl crochet;
repeat from * 2 times. ( 12 dbl crochet and 4 chain 3 corners)
Join with a sl st.

Round 2; ch 3 double crochet between next 2 dbl crochet,
2 dbl crochet, ch 3, 2 dbl crochet in corner,
* 1 dbl crochet between next two dbl crochet twice,
2 dbl crochet, ch 3, 2 dbl crochet in corner,
repeat from * 2 times. join.

24 dbl crochet and 4 chain 3 corners.
Repeat round 2 until your cloth is the size you want, making
corners in the chain 3 corner of the round before.
You of course will automatically be working more styitches
each round.

The trim is worked by:
Slip stitch in the top of the beginning chain 3,
sng in same stitch as join, ch 1 sng in top of next dbl
repeat to corner ch 3,
* ch 1, sng, in corner 3 times,
sng in top of each dbl ch 1 repeat across to corner ch 3,
repeat from * 2 times.
When I made my two cloths, for one I turned after each
round and for the other I didn't. Not recalling
exactly where they ended on the trim I can't say that
you will come exactly back to the beginning with thetrim repeats.
If not continue in the maner described and join with a slip
stitch in the first single crochet. Hide ends and you are done.
