Worsted Weight Yarn

Needles; Your choice. I like a very light discloth for summer so I used a size 9.
My finished cloth is 8 &3/4 inches.

Some notes;
This pattern has not been tested yet, so let me know if you have trouble.
I had to pay attention to what I was doing, I tend to knit on auto when
watching tv. I ended up with a wrong stitch count a couple of times because
I forgot to do the knit 2 after the beginning yo.
The pattern however, really isn't difficult!

Abreviations;
k = knit
yo = yarn over
st = stitch
tog = together

Note; The first 5 st and the last 5 st are always k. Count the yo as a stitch for this purpose.

Cast on 3 st.

Row 1 ; k (3 st)

Row 2 ; k 1, k in the front and back of next st (increase) k 1. (4 st)

Row 3 -9; k 2, yo, k to end. (11 st)
______________________________________________________
Row 10; k 2, yo, k 2, *k 2 tog, yo, repeat from * to last 5 st, k.

Row 11; k 2, yo, k to end.

Row 12; k 2, yo, k 2,*yo, k 2 tog, repeat to last 5 st, k to end.

Row 13; k 2, yo, k to end.

Repeat these four rows until size desired, ending with a yo row. (row 10 or 13)

I had 40 st.
_______________________________________________________

These two rows are worked even;

Row 1; k 2, yo, k 2 tog, k to end.

Row 2; k 2 yo, k 2 tog, k 1, *yo, k 2 tog, repeat to last 5 st, k to end.

Decreasing:

Row 1; k 1, k 2 tog, yo k 2 tog, k 1, k to end.

Row 2; k 1, k 2 tog, yo k 2 tog, *yo, k 2 tog, repeat to last 5 st, k to end.

Row 3; k 1, k 2 tog, yo k 2 tog, k to end.

Row 4; k 1, k 2 tog, yo k 2 tog, *k 2 tog, yo, repeat from * to last 5 st, k.

Repeat these four rows until 12 st remain.

Repeat row 3 until 5 st remain.

Set up for last row;

k 1, k 2 tog, yo, k 2 tog

Last Row; k 1, k 2 tog, k 1.

Bind off and hide ends.

I like all of your dishcloths but this one I'm having trouble with. The first decrease row doesn't come out right and I have the right amount of sts. What do I do.

I love this! Thank you so much for posting it. And I agree, I like the "airy summer" feel. These colors "blue and sunny yellow" are my daughter-in-laws kitchen colors, that and "teapots", so I'm making a couple of these for her. ~Cajun Parish Nurse

I am having lots of trouble too.... when I get to the spot that says These two rows are worked even. I have ripped it out over and over and it was fine up until the part where you prepare for the decreases.

I have figured out how to correct the decrease rows... (however, I still am unsure about the two rows in the very middle before the decrease rows). Here is the correct Decreasing:
Row 1: k1, k2tog, yo, k2tog, k1, knit to end.
Row 2: k1, k2tog, yo, k2tog, k1, *yo, k2tog, repeat from * to last 5 st, k to end.
Row 3: k1, k2tog, yo, k2tog, k1, knit to end.
Row 4: k1, k2tog, yo, k2tog, k1, *k2tog, yo, repeat from * to last 5 st, knit to end.
Everything else is good.

I have tried this 10 times. The second time you do row 10 you have an uneven number which doesnt work. I really like the opess of this pattern. Any thoughts?
